As Senior Vice-President, Federal Relations, American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), Mrs. Dent oversees issues affecting the life insurance industry; including tax, retirement security, financial services, international affairs and life insurance products. Among Mrs. Dent’s many legislative accomplishments, she has: led the industry’s efforts to include the Senior Safe Act and the International Insurance Capital Standards Accountability Act in the Economic, Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection law passed on May 24, 2018; successfully engaged Congress to redraft devastating life insurance provisions in the 2017 tax reform law; led the industry’s effort to repeal two 2016 regulations through the Congressional Review Act – joint resolutions disapproving the Department of Labor’s rule related to savings arrangements established by states and their political subdivisions for non-government employees; and ensured that life insurance companies had continued access to the Social Security Death Master File as part of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013. Mrs. Dent joined ACLI as a Vice President in 2004.

Prior to joining ACLI, Mrs. Dent served as a Federal Affairs Director for the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC). Mrs. Dent has also served as Legislative Counsel to former U.S. Representative Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) and Legislative Analyst for the Social Security Administration, where she was hired as a Presidential Management Fellow. She earned a B.A. in Political Science from Howard University and a J.D. from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. Mrs. Dent is a native of Los Angeles, CA. She is married to Sean and has two children – Aidan (16) and Lauren (14).
